Regarding the Tacoma Reporter newspaper...I don't believe it is in business anymore. Here is the article though:

Recently disfellowshipped prominent Assembly overseer in Western Europe now speaking out against the Watchtower org.
by the research lady informer elder, and assembly overseer roberto from france will be joining barbara and joe anderson on tonight's conference call, july 18,2009. roberto was disfellowshipped in june 2009 and after many faithful years of service is now joining thousands of others who are speaking out against the evils of the watchtower organization.
our call tonight will be focused on how the country of france, as well as other european countries are investigating jehovah's witnesses.
the watchtower organization is experiencing difficulties in these countries for the inhumane treatment and exerting too much control over people's lives.

I've notice you do not mention what he was disfellowshipped for?
Otherwise know as a shoot-the-messenger fallacy (argumentum ad-hominem). Here is a hypothetical example: IMr. Johnson says the Jehovah's Witness religion exhibits an unhealthy amount of control over the minds and lives of its adherents. Mr. Johnson did wrong by cheating on his wife; therefore, his opinion regarding JWs should be dismissed. WRONG! His actions regarding his wife do not relate to his expertise regarding JWs

Some things really ticked me off at the meeting last night...
by wantarevolution in...aside from the snooze fest that was the "bible study", taken by a brother who was 5 minutes late - went 10 minutes over and obiously hadn't prepared shit for the meeting (this is the same brother that "encouraged" me to be 15 minutes early for all meetings to welcome people).
1) i had the no3 talk, about "christians helping the poor", no source material or anything.
i played it good, spoke about our duty to be good christians, and charitable to everyone, and how it is a conscience matter as to how we donate our money or charitable deeds.i even used a quote by mother theresa.

Actually P, Christians went well beyond the Law. Pagans didn't have a history of charitable works; Jews practiced charity, but only to other Jews. Christians , based upon Jesus' example, practiced charity towards ALL groups, which is why Pagan Emperor Julian was so upset. Needless to say, such a generous group as the Christians attracked many followers. Julian hoped to stem the tide of converts and rebuild the Pagan nation, but he was unsucessful.
BTW, I was born/raised in Sacto. My daughter is attending U of P, McGeorge School of Law.

The Watchtower discussion, at one of the last meeting I ever attended, centered on Christian charity. I answered that I had "researched" the topic and discussed the extent to which 1st Century Christians practiced charity as contrasted with the pagans, especially the following.
"The difference between pagans and Christians on the practice of charity was recognized by pagans of the time. For example, the pagan satirist Lucian (130-200 c.e.) mocked Christians for their charity:
The earnestness with which the people of this religion help one another in their needs is incredible. They spare themselves nothing for this end. Their first lawgiver put it into their heads that they were all brethren.
Even more interestingly, the Pagan Emperor Julian -- who attempted to lead the Roman Empire back to paganism -- was frustrated by the superior morality shown by the Christians, especially when it came to charity. This was something he readily admitted: "The impious Galileans relieve both their own poor and ours . . . . It is shameful that ours should be so destitute of our assistance." Epistles of Julian, 49. Julian "especially admired the letters bishops wrote to commend poor travelers to the care of other Christians." Hinson, op. cit., page 211."

I concluded my comment by saying that, while the preaching work is important, it does not relieve Christians from having to practice practical acts of charity.
The PO was conducting, his eyes got as big as saucers, his wife's hand immediately flew up into the air, he called on her, and she made a comment about the superiority of the preaching work over other acts of charity.
THEN, in the closing prayer, the PO prayed for me...specifically, he said ask that Jehovah protect the hearts of those "who are researching to realize that all we need is found the the WTBTS's literature."

Also, many people see Jesus as the Lamb standing by the throne...so why would Jesus be the Lamb, who remains by the throne, AND the rider on the white horse that is leaving the throne area?

Yes. I have organic fruits and vegetables, from local farms, delivered to my home weekly. I do not get to choose what is in each week's box, which has caused me to greatly expand the variety of vegetables I eat. For example, this week, they delivered golden beets, which I have never had, nor would I ever buy if at the grocery store.
I found an excellent recipe that I am going to try: golden beet and pomegranate salad. It contains beets, pomegranante, red onion, arugala and feta cheese, with a Triple Sec, vinegar, chicken broth reduction.

2% increase in 2009 U.S. Memorial Attendance!
by Gayle inaccording to august kingdom ministry for u. s., memorial attendance was 2,469,036. in 2008, it was 2,418,903..

If I remember correctly, Memorial attendance always well exceeded the baptism rate. It would be interesting to compare historical Memorial attendance growth percentages against baptisms to see if there is a pattern. One might be able to roughly project baptism rates by the computation.

Actually, it says, "You must worship the Lord ( κ?ριος kyrios) your God (theos). ...just one of the reasons JWs no longer distribute the Greek Interlinear. :)
